Louis Peña será até agora uma das mais promissoras contratações do Portimonense para a nova temporada. Com apenas 20 anos apresenta-se jovem talento do futebol Venezuelano, por 9 vezes internacional sub 20 e já com duas chamadas à selecção principal da Venezuela.Com 171 cms e 67 kgs é apresentado como "volante ofensivo", difícil de travar em lances rápidos, desequilibrador, imprevisível, com capacidade para executar o último passe e surgir em zona de finalização. Um jogador que do meio campo para a frente pode fazer a diferença.
"Peña is considered a big emerging talent in South America. He became notorious in the last U-20 South American Championship, where he scored 2 goals in 9 games and guided Venezuela to a historical 4th place. A lot of Portuguese scouts were in that championship, and eventually two of the South-American "gems" came to Portugal: one being Urretaviscaya, and now Peña. Meanwhile, Peña has made his debut with Venezuela main NT, very impressive for a 19 years old boy, and even more impressive was his performance: one assistance and one of the best on the pitch against Colombia. He has made yet another NT game, this time against Costa Rica. In Estudiantes de Mérida, where he plays since 2006/07, he is one of the leaders in the team, and has attracted enormous interest, especially from Spain.
The deal value is not yet public, but it was easy to reach a co-sense between Estudiantes de Merida and Braga due to the Venezuelan club financial troubles. Braga secures this way a very precious player, that can show his full potential in the U-20 World Cup, where he will play for Venezuela.
About his qualities, he is very similar to Luis Aguiar, specially in the passing ability. His best position is clearly AM. In addition to this, he shoots with the right foot and he is very agile in reduced spaces."
